Garden Planning 2013 – the beginnings

So, there’s four feet of snow in the garden – trellis’s just barely peaking out. Been -20C weather for a week now and a snowstorm coming today.

Sounds like a good time to start seriously thinking about gardening.

Last fall, following the harvest I made a rather ambitious plan – nearly doubling the size of my garden this year. My goal is to produce enough vegetables to feed the family of five for 6 months from crops obtained from a 500 square foot garden. I utilized excel to design the entire garden layout, added some functionality and even used it to work out a planting schedule. To see how I’ve done that – check HERE.
