This year’s Blueberry Blast Festival will be held between August 2-5.  It features live entertainment, food and goods vendors, family fun and lots of activities just for kids! Some highlights for this year include a Blueberry Idol competition on Friday August 2, alternating with performances from Flipper Flanagan’s Flat Footed Four;  a daily bus taking people berry picking;  Funtastic Castles on Friday and Saturday at the marina; vendors, artisans, food, and tai chi and music at the Legion hall on Saturday, and live music at the Legion club house on Saturday evening; Sunday’s events are centred at the Marina and include live music, a magician, a juggler, several events for children (minnow race, model canoe race, dog show), Parks Canada interactive events, geocache, and a Pickerel dinner.  There will be several attendance draws held throughout the weekend.  Monday there will be a tailgate sale, vendors and artisans and closing ceremony.

BLUEBERRY BUS

Take advantage of the opportunity to pick the tastiest blueberries in northwestern Ontario, at some of the favourite local spots! Enjoy our best patches secure in the company of others who are there to experience this traditional annual family event.
Buses depart daily (Friday through Monday) at 9 AM from the Legion. A hat, long sleeves and sturdy walking shoes are required. Water will be provided. Please bring your own pail for hauling back all your yummy blueberries on the return bus at noon.
There will be a weigh-in and participation prizes for berry-pickers each day, so come out for a delicious good time!

JUST FOR KIDS!
Friday: Funtastic Castles at the Marina and Crafts for Kids at the Nipigon Museum
Saturday: Funtastic Castles, Geocache Discovery and Parks Canada interactive youth tent at the Marina; painting wooden canoes at the Nipigon Museum for the Canoe Race on Sunday; BMX on the pump track at the Nipigon Community Center
Sunday: Parks Canada interactive youth tent, Martin’s Wonderland Magic, Minnow Races, Toy Canoe Race, Geocache Discovery, Eric the Juggler all at the Marina.

DON’T FORGET YOUR WRISTBAND!
Wristbands are required for ALL activities at the Marina. They cost $10 for the weekend or $5 for a day pass. Kids 12 and under are free! Wristbands are not required for the Pancake Breakfast or the Spaghetti Supper. Events are planned for the Nipigon Marina and the Legion. REMEMBER to bring your lawn chair, hat and sunscreen for outdoor events! IN CASE OF RAIN, some activities may be cancelled.
