Pietsch Group Inc. is a group of companies with a long history in Geraldton.  It started as a family seasonal greenhouse business over 45 years ago and in 2003 Eric K. Pietsch took over the business and expanded it throughout the province in various fields including landscaping, property management and general contracting. In 2010 we added a Bed and Breakfast to the growing real estate portfolio, and in 2012 Pietsch Group Inc. took over the local newspaper, the Times Star.

Eric K. Pietsch (president) believes in giving back to the community and every year makes a donation to a local community service group, this year being the local fire department who puts on the Christmas parade of lights and fireworks display (the donation will be used for the 2014 parade). However this year another story has caught his attention,  the students from Whale Cove coming to Geraldton to play the local high school hockey team in a 7 game series. Their teacher, Andrew McFarlane, previously a teacher at  Geraldton Composite High School, booked the trip to bring 10 students to Geraldton in March to play a series of games here.

Eric could not help but get involved. He has offered to put the team up for free at the Victoria Bed and Breakfast for their entire stay, as well Eric is going to be donating winter dress coats and toques to the entire team with the Times Star, and Mikige logos, which will all be custom embroidered on site at Times Star.

When Andrew and Eric first spoke about what to do for the students Andrew said winter clothes are welcome!  Times Star is also putting the whale cove municipal logo on hoodies supplied by Mr. McFarlane for the team. “There is no better feeling then helping those who are trying to do good things for young people, as well as to give to those who do not expect it.” said Eric.

We ask that everyone go to the go fund me link and give to help bring these kids to Geraldton, to help give them an experience of a lifetime.

Every little bit counts and adds up. Thank you and all the best of the holiday season to you.
